2007 JUNIOR BACH FESTIVAL

Festival concerts in March 2007 were an exciting and inspiring display of talent in our young students.  The following pictures may convey some of this excitement that we experience every year at Festival time.

Stephen Waarts, 10 years old, opened Festival 2007 with the Preludio and Loure of the Partita in E Major.

Many instrumental combinations, such as this ensemble.

Samantha Schaevitz, flute and Kevin Chang, harpsichord.

Jillian Kim, in a contemplative moment, before starting the lengthy French Suite.

Yiren Lu takes command of the intricate A Minor English Suite.

Danielle Wilson plays the Allemande from the Partita in D Minor.

Cassy Muster, one of the few vocal soloists, receives an award on behalf of herself and the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra, having performed an aria from Cantata 180.

Eugene Lifschitz, a Junior Bach veteran, in a powerful performance of the entire Suite in D Major for cello.

We were privileged to hear from large groups of singers, including the Crowden Chorus. . .

. . . and The Contra Costa Children’s Chorus, the largest vocal group ever to perform at our Festival.

Hearing Bach on guitar was a special pleasure, as with Allegra Bautista.

For the second year, the Berkeley Youth Ballet were welcome guests in the Festival.
