2008 JUNIOR BACH FESTIVAL Festival concerts in March
2008 were an exciting and inspiring display of talent in our young
students. The following pictures may
convey some of this excitement that we experience every year at Festival time.
Preben A., in award ceremony, for playing Goldberg Variations 16-32 plus the Aria. The variations take 40 minutes and he would have played them all if we’d let him!
Evin B. brilliantly plays the first 4 movements of the Partita in D minor.
Then her sister, Yale B., finishes this large work with a magnificent rendition of the Chaconne.
Cellists were well represented this year. Eunice K. plays the cello Suite in D Minor.
Eileen C. demonstrates concentration and mental preparation before launching into the complete Partita in B flat Major.
Rachel B. and Christine X. played the Concerto for Two Keyboards in D Minor. They had almost too much fun in the rehearsal preceding the program.
Many excellent pianists, as usual. Molly G. shows the usual intense concentration and attention to detail.
The 35-voice Colla Voce Choir from the Head Royce School sang Komm, Jesu Komm, a motet scored for two separate choruses. We always feel privileged to hear choral works by Bach
We wish we had more guitars. Usually playing lute and cello transcriptions of Bach, they provide a beautiful contrast to other instruments. Benjamin B. plays the Partita in A Minor. |
